Macmillan Coffee morning

With the help of our new ambassadors, on Friday September 29th, 9:15-10:15, we will be joining in with the ‘World’s biggest coffee morning’ to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. The money raised goes to support Macmillan in their work to provide Macmillan nurses, online advice, telephone support lines and many other ways to help people living with cancer and their families. Please come along with a donation to enjoy a cup of tea/coffee and a slice of cake with us to raise money for this great cause.

Special lunch menu – 5th October

October 5th is our ‘census’ day for schools so there will be a special menu on offer that day for school dinners. Please see below for the choices that will be available for choosing in the usual way at registration. If you don’t normally have school dinners, you can still choose to have this dinner on the day if you wish. If you pay for meals, payments can be made on Parent Pay.

Christmas Shoebox appeal

This year, we are taking part in the Christmas shoebox appeal to support people who will otherwise not have gifts at Christmas. Can you help us by saving any shoeboxes you may have and bringing them into school please? We will also be looking to collect any small gifts that we can use to fill these shoeboxes.

We will need to collect together our shoeboxes by the start of October half term (Friday 27th October) to get the shoeboxes to the charity in time for them to be shipped.

The list to the right shows the items we will be looking to collect. It would be great to start collecting these over the next few weeks. Our plan is to collect as many gifts together as we can and see how many shoeboxes we can fill. If you can help us with any one of the items to the right (or maybe more over this half term), that would be brilliant. We will be asking our ambassadors to work together to pack the boxes before half term and write some messages for the people who will receive them.

Thank you!

Coventry Cathedral Choir

Do you love singing and music? Are you in Key Stage 2? If the answer is, ‘Yes’, then there is a fantastic opportunity for you to develop your talent and access an exceptional training and experience in music.

Coventry Cathedral Choir are recruiting boy and girl choristers from KS2 in primary schools across Coventry during September and October 2023. The choir is a free opportunity open to all children in the City and Diocese who love singing and show musical potential. The Cathedral Choristers attend schools all over the diocese, and continue to take leading roles within their own school choirs.

If your child is interested in singing in the choir, please let Mrs Watson know and we can contact the Director of Music to request a visit to school and support you with an application. We have had two children who have been members of the choir recently, and there is no doubt from their experience that this is a wonderful opportunity for keen musicians to develop their talent and enjoy performing in such an amazing and inspiring place as Coventry cathedral.

Dot Day art activities

We had a lot of fun across the school yesterday sharing the story, the dot by Peter Reynolds. This story is all about having a go and gaining the confidence to find out that you can be successful and creative. The story also shows how when we believe in ourselves, we can help others to develop too.

We enjoyed making our own dot designs today and look forward to seeing these forming a new display in the Key Stage 1 corridor.
